178 Merit students rewarded with laptops by Meghalaya government

178 Students who have excelled in their studies have been rewarded with Laptops by the Meghalaya government. The 178 students who have been rewarded with Laptops are the ones who stood top in the X standard and XII standard examinations conducted by the state board, ICSE, ISC, and CBSE.
Ampareen Lyngdoh, the state minister for Information and Technology said that education plays a vital role in the life of any individual and is an important capital investment and forms as a permanent asset in his or her career. She said that education is a capital investment and a permanent asset to all.
Speaking of the rewards presented to the merit students, she opined that the rewards will inculcate a spirit of dedication and discipline in the rewarded students and raises hopes in them to accomplish further bigger goals in their careers. She also said that these small gifts rewarded will help these merit students in recognizing their importance to the society as an individual.
She said, “We honor your dedication and hard work with small gifts which we feel will send a loud message that we wish to build a sense of dedication and discipline to you.”
Speaking about the IT discipline and its role in the society development, she said that IT discipline has always been in the forefront towards building and developing IT skills in the state and will also carry out several studies to identify and recognise such skills required by the students in developing the state as a major IT corridor.
Lyngdohalso added that “We have designed and launched programs for providing training to our students in line with the industrial requirements.”
Commissioner and Secretary D P Wahlang said that even though earlier we observed only students from urban areas occupied the top positions in the studies, now we can see the transformation where even the students from rural areas are also coming to the forefront.
