OK Jaanu is based on ‘O Kadhal Kanmani’ Tamil super hit movie directed and produced by Mani Ratnam. It was dubbed in Telugu as OK Bangaram and turned as stupendous hit. Now, it was remade in Hindi, Shaad Ali has helmed this romantic entertainer. Let’s see how it was shaped out to amuse moviegoers.
Adi (Aditya Roy Kapur) is an animation designer, who saves a life of Tara (Shraddha Kapoor), who is an architect by profession, was on the verge of killing herself as she fights with her boyfriend and decides to end her life. A few days later, two meet again at the church as one of Adi’s friends was getting married. Their hearts hop closer to each other and hit it off soon.
Days passed by Tara shifts to Adi’s room and live together. Adi creates a video game called Mumbai 2.0 so he has to move to Los Angeles and Tara gets admission to study architecture in Paris. As they are to depart, extremely upset and they decide to have blissful joy together for the last 10 days. Remaining should be watched on the big screen.
Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor are perfect on the silver screen. The pair’s chemistry on big screen is known to all as Aashiqui 2 remains as a witness. Aditya did the fabulous job during emotional scenes especially when he heard the news of Tara’s engagement plans. Shraddha has done a decent job. Naseeruddin Shah’s character is neat and impressive.
The story might be appealed to current generation but it is so predictable. Bollywood audiences have seen N number of films on the same lines. Naseeruddin Shah’s character is truly appreciable. He is lovable, affectionate and he treats tenants as his children. There might be a few loopholes but overall, it is good movie during this festival season. Youth can enjoy the film a lot.
Remaking a hit film like O Kadhal Kanmani is a right choice. It looks funny to see scenes like falling in love very fast. It looks a bit strange but good and interesting. Music should be appreciated. Editing is sharp and direction is neat. Production values are adequate.
OK Jaanu is an enjoyable ride
