Annavaram is a beautiful hamlet located on the banks of the Pampa rivulet in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The pious region is stationed on the gorgeous Ratnagiri Hills. The hidden underground transit in the hills were used by Sri Krishnadevaraya of  Vijayanagar, to attack the enemies during the seizure of the Kalinga army.  Legendary rebellion Alluri Seethamrama Raju had also utilized these concealed mountain chambers during his revolt against the British reign. Annavaram Village has been popular for the Vaishnavite temple devoted to Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy, a reincarnated form of Vishnu. This holy land considerably belongs to both Lord Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swami and Goddess Anantalaxmi Satyavathi Ammavaru. Annavaram has conquered its ethnic name from the traditional belief that the goddess will bless anyone with whatever they desire and wish in life.

 

The Best Places to Visit in and Around Annavaram

1.  Sri Satyanarayana Swamy or the Annavaram Temple

Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Temple has been a popular destination for religious peacemakers located in the serene settlement called  Annavaram, personified as the most beautiful village in Andhra Pradesh. This majestic temple covers a small distance of 2 km from the main railway station of Annavaram. There are about 460 stoned steps that help the pilgrims climb up to the shrine from the bottom of the Ratnagiri hills. These mesmerizing mounds are about 300 feet above the sea level amidst the green pastures that surround the calm Pampa river. Raja Ramanarayana, a zamindar in the 1891 era had built this monument, the main section of this structure was erected in the form of the chariot with 4 wheels on each 4 corners. The former Vishwakarma Brahmin Stapathis of this ancient place has the best architectural perception in its sculpture.

2.  Pampa river, Annavaram

Pampa River is situated at a close distance of 2 km from Annavaram railway station seems to have a breathtaking scenic view in Andhra Pradesh. This Majestic tributary encircles from the bottom of the wide Ratnagiri hills, on which the popular Satyaranayana Swamy temple was built. There is also a dam constructed on the Pampa rivulet with an adventurous attraction of boat rides. It gives the holidaymakers an amazing grandeur of the lake Pampa along with the colossal Ratnagiri hillocks in the backdrop.

 

3.  Thalupulamma Thalli Temple, Annavaram

Thalupulamma Thali Temple located at a neat distance of 15 km from Annavaram is situated amidst Annavaram and Tuni in the Visakhapatnam town. The Thalupulamma Thali religious structure has become the most celebrated pilgrim site in the state of Andhra Pradesh, it was built on the hills, and is embraced with majestic views. The local inhabitants of the village have a strong and profound belief that the diety who dwelled here, fulfills all the wishes and prayer after one pays an homage to this traditional site.

4.  Samarlakota, Annavaram

Samarlakota stationed at a distance of 40 km away from Annavaram has become popular for Pancharama Sri Kumararama Bheemeshwara Swamy temple and it comes near the local railway station. This prayer hall has been devoted to Lord Shiva and was also known as Purva Chalukya Bhimavaram, as it was governed by the Eastern Chalukyans. The primeval structure was constructed by Chalukya Kumara Rama at the end of 9th century commemorating his victories in more than 300 wars. The Pancharama Sri Kumararama Bheemeshwara Swamy temple becomes a must visit especially during the peak festive season of Kalyana Mahautsav & Mahashivratri.
