Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and his wife Kareena Kapoor were blessed with a baby boy recently and they named him as Taimur. Many in India criticized on social media for choosing such a name.
But, couple could not give clarity over it and finally, they have elucidated by saying, “My wife and I like the sound of it and we love its meaning. I know that heritage of the Turkish ruler - he was Timur, my son is Taimur, and an ancient Persian name means iron.”
The couple’s unusual choice of picking a name for their son has led into controversy on social media asking if was named for Timur, the Central Asian invader who sacked Delhi in the 13th century.
After Taimur name was trolled on twitter, Kareena’s uncle Rishi Kapoor defended them saying that a baby’s name was the job of parents and nobody else’s. “There were many people who raised objections but obviously to look at the medieval period and to make value judgments is I think, ridiculous, said Taimur.
Saif and Kareena got married in 2012 and they have welcomed a baby boy last month. On the work front, Saif is awaiting the release of Vishal Bharadwaj's Rangoon and Kareena, who is on maternal leave, will be joining the sets soon for Veere Di Wedding.
