Facilities: The Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports (JIM&WS) was constructed at Aru a famous village near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on the 25th of October 1983. The JIM&WS offers splendid skiing courses to any enthusiastic lay persons in 3 easy levels, namely: Basic skiing, Intermediate skiing and Advance Skiing.
Skiing Season: Aru Valley located near Pahalgam has the best cold climate in the winter months, that begin from October to February. These freezing months are bordered with snow all around, when the minimum mercury level goes below sub zero levels and the area receives fresh snowfall. Winter sports, especially skiing have become much popular amidst the snow clad lofty hills and the excellent view of the landscape.
Pahalgam and Aru Valley Skiing Adventure in Jammu and Kashmir:
Pahalgam has been a simple and notable area in the Anantnag district of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir. This hill station is a famous destination for tourist globally and it’s placed about 45 kilometres from Anantnag on the banks of Lidder River at an altitude of 7,200 feet.

In order to be clear Aru is the main junction that provides splendid opportunities to ski lovers all around the universe. Aru the small bowl shaped valley amidst Birzamall and Tson Mountains is located at close distance of 12 km from Pahalgam and about 11 km upstream from the flowing Lidda River.
As soon as the winter season arrives, the whole territory gets decorated with snowflakes and the place magically transforms into a favourite skiing and heliskiing sports and adventure.
