CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao has not forwarded his report about the state’s political crisis to the Centre. He is looking forward for the Supreme Court ruling against AIADMK chief VK Sasikala’s disproportionate asset cases which are expected next week.
Sasikala, who had been a close confidante of late Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa may legally head for the chief minister’s rank only if she is cleared of all the corruption cases against her. If she is convicted of the allegations over Jayalalithaa’s amassed wealth she will not be entitled to hold public office or contest in the election.
Vidyasagar Rao is reportedly considering for a strong candidate who can win the election and give a stable government to the state as immediately as possible. He is looking at the scenarios to urgently invite O Panneerselvam to continue as an interim chief minister and fill the vacuum.
On Thursday, Sasikala had made an official visit to Vidyasagar Rao while Panneerselvam had stricken a diplomatic conversation with him to narrate about his retrenchment from the party on Sunday. He told the Governor that the legislators were adamantly made to sign the blank papers which Sasikala had misused and forged. Panneerselvam also disclosed to the Govern about Sasikala who had confined more than 100 ministers across various hotels and resorts in the city.
Ironically, only 5 of the AIADMK legislators have supported Pannerselvam for the post of chief minister. However, the center is opting for his name as he is a refined veteran with utmost political experience.
